Only the combination of the Marshal and the Les Paul could ever give this sound. The 335 came close, but didn't quite sound as meaty, as good as it was.
I prefer this stuff to his strat stuff I have to say. It just flowed better and was much more constructive than the thinner sounding strat's single coils pickups.
Eric sounds great regardless of what guitar he plays though.

Back in the early 80s I took guitar lessons from a very good guitarist. He said if I learned Hideway by Clapton I would basically know all of Claptons licks. He was right this song just about has them all. Of course knowing the riffs doesn't make you a Clapton.

Eric Clapton didn't use a Gibson ES335 with The Yardbirds. He only used Fenders while in The Yardbirds.

I wish I could get you to send me those pics ...why Clapton doesnt one time for all of us ....strap on a Les Paul ...and plug in a Marshall bluesbreaker and get with it ....there is not a out of place note on this ...the legend used to be that Eric Clapton never played a wrong note ...was what led to him being called god ...( I used the small g on purpose) ...his 60 Les Paul was stolen whoever has that guitar I wish would just come out with it ...Clapton would probably pay them nicely for it
